I Discovered Money Myths the Hard Way

Let me take you back for a second.
I didn’t grow up with wealth.
I grew up watching every penny.
Not the cute “we don’t eat out” kind of frugal—but the deep, bone-level survival kind.
The kind where money was a constant source of tension. Conversations. Conflict.
The kind that settles into your nervous system and whispers,
“You’ll never have enough.”
And yet—I went to private schools.
I was surrounded by polished, privileged kids with designer shoes, luxury vacations, and trust funds.
Meanwhile, I carried shame in my backpack and a sinking feeling every time money came up.
I felt other.
I felt less than.
And to make it worse—I was bullied. Not just for what I didn’t have, but for who I was.
That early contrast between lack and luxury, survival and ease, etched something deep into my soul.
It planted a question:
Why do some people float in financial freedom… while others drown in the same system?
🌀 12 Years. Many Lessons.
Fast forward 12 years…
I went on a wild, non-linear, soul-stretching journey.
From broke, burnt out, and afraid to check my bank account…
To becoming a money coach for over 500 leaders in Silicon Valley—yes, that Silicon Valley.
I’ve coached tech execs, founders, creatives, and change-makers on how to heal their relationship with money.
And what I’ve learned?
It’s not about how much you make.
It’s about how much you believe.
It’s about how deeply you know yourself.
And it’s about how many invisible money myths you’re still letting run the show.
Because I didn’t just read about these myths—I lived them.
💣 The Money Myths That Nearly Took Me Out
- “If I work hard enough, I’ll succeed.”
I worked. HARD.
I said yes when I meant no. I over-delivered. I burned out.
And still? I didn’t feel safe. Or successful.
Because hard work without self-worth leads to exhaustion, not abundance.
- “Saving is the answer.”
I clung to every dollar like it was my last breath.
I thought if I could just save enough, I’d finally feel secure.
But fear-based saving doesn’t create safety.
It creates scarcity.
And scarcity isn’t about numbers—it’s about mindset.
- “I’m not good with money.”
I wore this belief like a badge of shame.
I believed wealth wasn’t for me.
But that wasn’t truth. That was trauma.
That was 7-year-old me internalizing struggle she didn’t choose.
I had to teach her a new belief:
I am good with money—because I’ve learned to trust myself.
- “Spiritual and wealthy don’t mix.”
I thought being purpose-driven meant I had to reject prosperity.
I thought staying small was humble.
But playing small doesn’t serve the world.
And you don’t have to choose between soul and success.
You get to have both.
- “Once I hit X income, I’ll feel free.”
Nope.
I hit the number.
And still felt anxious.
Still afraid to spend.
Still waiting to exhale.
Because money doesn’t create freedom.
You do.
Money only amplifies what’s already there.
🌱 My Wake-Up Call
Somewhere between client sessions, breakthroughs, and late-night journaling on the floor…
I had a moment of truth:
What a privilege it is to live wealthy in every sense of the word—
And even more?
To empower others to do the same.
That’s when I knew:
This isn’t just my personal healing.
This is my mission.
To help others step out of scarcity and into sovereignty.
To show that money doesn’t follow perfection.
It follows authenticity.
And that’s why I wake up to my dream every single day.
